Penstemon hartwegii "Sensation Mixed", 9 cm pot
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Penstemon hartwegii "Sensation Mixed" is a colour mix of beardtongue with tall spikes of tubular, bell-shaped flowers in shades of pink, lilac and purple, often with a white throat. Buy Penstemon in Estonia from ALLIKASILM — plants in 9 cm pots, ready to plant.
It grows to about 60–75 cm and flowers over a long period, from summer to autumn. Penstemon hartwegii comes from Mexico and is half-hardy — in the Estonian climate it overwinters unreliably, so it is often grown as an annual or protected in winter.
Ideal for summer bedding, mixed borders, large containers and cutting. The flowers attract pollinators.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant out after the last frosts in a sunny spot with fertile, free-draining soil, about 30–40 cm apart.
Watering and feeding. Water in dry spells and avoid waterlogging. During flowering, feed every 2–3 weeks with a liquid fertiliser for flowering plants.
Care. Remove spent flower spikes to keep new flowers coming until autumn. Stake tall stems if needed.
Overwintering. Overwinters unreliably. To try, do not cut the plant back in autumn and cover it with spruce branches; it is safer to grow it as an annual.
