Planting Plant in spring or autumn in a sunny spot in dry, well-drained soil; wet soil is unsuitable. Space plants 50–60 cm apart.
Watering Water in the first year; later the plant is drought tolerant.
Pruning Cut the stems back to 10–15 cm in spring when buds swell; do not cut in autumn.
Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with compost or a slow-release fertiliser. Hardy; no extra cover is needed.
