Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in sun or part shade; flowering is best in full sun. Dig a hole 50 × 50 cm and add compost. Leave at least 1.5–2 m to neighbouring plants.
Watering and feeding. In the first summer water deeply once a week in dry spells. Feed with compost or a general fertiliser in spring and give no nitrogen after late July. Mulch keeps the soil moist.
Care. Prune straight after flowering: cut flowered shoots back to strong young growth and remove 1–2 of the oldest stems at ground level each year. Spring pruning removes that year's flowers.
Gardener's tip. Plant "Virginal" near a window, bench or terrace – on June evenings its scent fills the whole garden. An old shrub can be renewed by cutting all stems back to 30 cm.
