Garden phlox Phlox paniculata is a classic fragrant summer perennial, offered here as assorted varieties. Buy garden phlox in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery – the exact variety and colour depend on availability.
Upright stems carry large, dense flower heads in white, pink, lilac or red shades. It flowers from July to September and the blooms are often strongly scented. Varieties usually grow 60–120 cm tall.
Garden phlox is fully hardy, attracts butterflies and makes a good cut flower. It does best in sun or partial shade in fertile, moist soil.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or late August–September in fertile soil enriched with compost, 45–60 cm apart. Good air flow reduces powdery mildew.
Watering and feeding. Phlox needs even moisture – water at the base in dry weather, not over the leaves. Feed with nitrogen in spring and potassium-rich fertiliser at bud stage.
Care. Deadhead faded flower heads to encourage side shoots to bloom. Cut stems to the ground in late autumn and divide clumps every 4–5 years.
Gardener's tip. Mulch around the base with compost – phlox love a cool, moist root run and flower longer for it.
