Blue spruce "Super Blue" (Picea pungens glauca) is a showy conifer with silvery-blue needles that keep their colour all year. Its dense conical habit makes it an eye-catching specimen tree.
It suits front gardens, group plantings and, while young, large containers. It is very frost hardy and tolerates urban pollution.
A mature tree slowly reaches 8-15 m in height and 3-4 m in width. Hardy to USDA zones 2-7. Supplied as a young plant about 50 cm tall.

Planting. Plant the spruce in spring or autumn in a sunny site with well-drained soil. Allow plenty of space, as the mature tree is large.
Care. Care is easy and no pruning is needed. Keep a layer of bark mulch around the base to hold moisture and suppress weeds.
Watering and feeding. Water young plants regularly for the first two years, keeping the soil evenly moist. Feed in spring with a conifer fertiliser.
Winter and pruning. Fully hardy. Protect young plants from spring sun scorch with a cover if needed. Pruning is not required.
