Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in sun or partial shade, ideally in a cool spot, 30–40 cm apart. Add compost to the planting hole and a little lime to acid soil.
Watering and feeding. Jacob's ladder dislikes drying out – water regularly in dry spells and mulch the soil. Give compost or organic fertiliser in spring.
Care. Cut flower stems back after the first flush – fresh foliage follows and often a second bloom. Cutting back also prevents excessive self-seeding. Divide every 3–4 years.
Gardener's tip. Jacob's ladder looks lovely with pink peonies, white ox-eye daisies and hostas – it grows best in moist light shade.
