About this product
Shrubby cinquefoil Potentilla fruticosa (syn. Dasiphora fruticosa) is a long-flowering, extremely hardy low shrub; this is the species form (no cultivar). Buy shrubby cinquefoil in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
The dense, rounded bush reaches about 0.6–1.5 m. From early summer into autumn it is covered in yellow five-petalled flowers above small, finely divided leaves.
Native to cool temperate and subarctic regions, it survives the harshest winters (RHS H7, below −20 °C). Use it for low hedges, edging, rock gardens and slopes.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in a sunny spot; for a hedge space plants 40–50 cm apart. Avoid waterlogged ground.
Watering and feeding. Water while establishing and during long droughts. Give a shrub fertiliser in spring – too much nitrogen reduces flowering.
Care. In early spring cut last year's shoots back by a third and remove old, dead stems to keep the bush dense and free-flowering.
Gardener's tip. The sunnier the site, the more flowers; in hot summers a mulch keeps the roots cool.
