About this product
Sweet cherry "Queen Mary" (Prunus avium) is a columnar variety with a narrow, compact crown and tasty fruit.
The tree is narrow, 2.5–3 m tall and under a metre wide, so it can be planted in a small garden or even a large container. It is one of the later sweet cherry varieties.
The variety is hardy for a sweet cherry and needs minimal care. For reliable fruiting it is best to plant another sweet cherry variety nearby.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in a sunny, sheltered spot where water does not stand. Keep the root collar at soil level and tie the young tree to a stake.
Care. Keep the base free of weeds and mulch it. For reliable fruiting it is best to plant a second pollinating variety nearby.
Watering and feeding. In the first years water weekly in dry weather. From the third year apply a nitrogen fertiliser in spring and a potassium-phosphorus one in summer.
Winter and pruning. In spring remove dead, diseased and crowded branches and shape the crown. Whitewash the trunk for winter and protect it from rodents.
