Greengage plum "Ulenas Renklode"

Planting. Plant the plum in spring in a sunny, wind-sheltered spot with fertile soil. Space trees 4 m apart and keep the graft union above soil level.

Care. Thin heavy crops so fruits are larger and branches do not break. Mulch the roots and keep the trunk base weed-free.

Watering and feeding. Water deeply in dry weather, especially while fruits swell. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser and avoid excess nitrogen.

Winter and pruning. Prune in summer after harvest, not in winter, to avoid disease. Protect young trunks from frost and rodents in the first winters.
