Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant in spring in a sunny, sheltered spot in fertile, well-drained soil. Space trees 3–4 m apart.
Watering Water regularly in the first years, especially in dry spells and during fruit growth; avoid waterlogging.
Pruning Shape the crown in late winter or in summer after harvest; thin the crown and remove dead branches.
Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with compost and a fruit-tree fertiliser. Protect a young tree in the first winters with mulch and fleece and whitewash the trunk. In winter cover a young tree and protect it from hares.
