Indoor azalea Rhododendron simsii (Sims's azalea) is a profusely flowering pot plant for the home. Buy an indoor azalea in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery; flower colour depends on availability.
The compact evergreen bush is smothered in white, pink, red or bicoloured, often double flowers. It blooms mainly from autumn to spring, and in a cool room the display lasts for several weeks.
The plant is not frost hardy – in Estonia it is grown indoors, though the pot can stand outside in light shade in summer. Azaleas need a cool, bright spot and lime-free water.

Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Repot only when necessary and after flowering, into a pot 2.5–5 cm wider, using acidic, lime-free (ericaceous) compost.
Watering and feeding. Never let the compost dry out completely. Use rainwater or soft water – hard, limy tap water harms the plant. Feed 2–3 times during growth at half strength.
Care. Keep in a cool, bright place (about 13–16 °C), away from radiators. Remove faded flowers and lightly shorten long shoots after flowering.
Gardener's tip. From late May to September the pot can be sunk to its rim in a lightly shaded spot outdoors to help set new flower buds. Bring it in before the first frosts.
