About this product
Rhododendrons and azaleas are acid-lovers: they grow where the soil is acid and light, and an ordinary garden fertiliser pushes their pH the wrong way. This one is made for them.
Flowering is decided the previous summer: the buds are set in July and August, and that is when feeding matters most. A spring feed powers the new growth; the summer feed decides how many flowers you get next year.
A liquid feed goes in with the watering and arrives at once — better for the shallow roots of a rhododendron than a granule.

Advice from our agronomist
Never give a rhododendron lime or wood ash — they push the pH the wrong way.
Water with plain water before feeding and pour the solution under the canopy, not against the stem.
Snap off spent flower heads by hand: that sends energy into new buds rather than seed.
Keep a thick mulch over the roots — pine bark or needles. Rhododendron roots are shallow and will not tolerate digging.
The worst winter damage comes not from cold but from drying out: water the shrub well before the ground freezes.
