Raspberry Rubus idaeus
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) is the best-loved berry of Estonian gardens, giving fragrant red berries. Buy raspberry plants in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Summer raspberries fruit on last year's canes, ripening in July–August. The berries are sweet and aromatic, good fresh, for jam, juice and freezing.
Raspberry is very winter-hardy; the canes reach 1.5–2 m and the plant spreads by suckers, so the bed fills itself. The leaves can also be dried for tea.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in a sunny spot in loose, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil. Space plants 40–50 cm apart in the row and rows 1.5–2 m apart. After planting cut the canes back to 20–30 cm.
Watering and feeding. Raspberries are shallow-rooted and need even moisture – water in dry spells and mulch with compost or wood chips. Give a nitrogen-containing berry fertiliser in spring.
Care. Summer raspberries fruit on last year's canes: after harvest cut the fruited canes to the ground and keep 8–10 strong young canes per metre of row. Tie the canes to a wire trellis.
Gardener's tip. Raspberries spread by suckers – edge the bed with a buried barrier so they do not wander through the garden. Pick the berries in dry weather every 2–3 days.
