Tietoa tuotteesta
Garden sorrel (Rumex acetosa) is an easy perennial with juicy, lemony-sour leaves, picked from spring to autumn for soups, salads and sauces. Buy sorrel plants in a 9 cm pot in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery — they establish quickly in the vegetable bed.
The leaf rosette reaches 30–40 cm, and in June – July flower stems rise to 60–100 cm. One plant keeps cropping in the same spot for 3–4 years or more.
Suitable for the vegetable garden, herb bed or a large container. Sorrel is fully hardy (USDA zones 3–9) and is one of the first plants to give fresh leaves in spring.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or late summer in sun or partial shade, in fertile moist soil, 25–30 cm apart. Water well after planting.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly, especially in hot weather: in dry soil the leaves turn tough and too sour. Feed with compost or a leafy-crop fertiliser in spring and after heavy picking.
Care. Pick leaves as they grow, leaving the heart of the rosette. Remove flower stems as soon as they appear — the plant keeps producing tender leaves for longer and does not self-seed.
Gardener's tip. Every 3–4 years divide the clump and replant in a fresh spot — young rosettes give the largest and most tender leaves.
