About this product

Twisted weeping willow "Caradoc" (Salix × sepulcralis) is a deciduous shrub or small tree with curiously twisted, arching shoots that turn golden-yellow in winter and long, narrow leaves.

It makes a fine specimen tree on a lawn or beside a pond, and the twisted stems are popular in floristry. Small white catkins appear in early spring.

The willow grows fast, tolerates wet soil and is very hardy. It needs space, as a mature tree can reach 8–12 m. Buy Salix "Caradoc" at the Allikasilm garden centre.

Advice from our agronomist

Planting. Plant in spring or autumn in sun to part shade, at least 8–10 m from buildings, pipes and drains. The willow likes moist soil and a spot near water.

Care. It grows in any garden soil. Keep the area around the tree weed-free and mulch young plants.

Watering and feeding. Water young plants regularly in dry spells; a mature tree needs much less. In spring add compost or a general fertiliser.

Pruning and winter. In spring before the leaves open remove dead and crowded stems and shorten the crown if needed. Completely hardy, no protection required.
