Caucasian scabious "Perfecta Mid Blue" is a perennial with large lavender-blue pincushion flowers on long stems, one of the best cut flowers. Buy scabious in a 9 cm or 1 L pot in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
Height 50–60 cm. Flowers from July to September with regular deadheading. Single blooms with frilly edges; grey-green leaves.
A magnet for bees and butterflies in sunny borders and cottage gardens. Drought tolerant once established. Hardy (USDA 3–8) but dislikes winter wet – needs free-draining soil.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in spring in full sun and light, free-draining soil. Add sand and lime to heavy clay – scabious rots in wet soil.
Watering and feeding. Water young plants until established, then moderately. Feed lightly – too much nitrogen gives leaves instead of flowers.
Care. Deadhead regularly to keep it flowering into autumn. Cut stems back in autumn. Protect young plants from slugs. Divide in spring every 3–4 years.
Winter. Scabious overwinters without cover if the soil is not wet. A light mulch of dry leaves or spruce branches can be added.
