About this product

'Variegata' is the variegated form of Kamchatka stonecrop: its fleshy green leaves have a creamy-white edge, so the plant stays attractive between flushes of flower. Buy Sedum kamtschaticum 'Variegata' in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.

In summer it opens golden-yellow to orange-tinted starry flowers loved by bees. It forms a low mat 15–20 cm tall and 30–60 cm wide and shows little tendency to revert to plain green.

A very hardy (USDA 2–3), drought-tolerant perennial for rock gardens, gravel beds, the front of borders and containers. Supplied as a young plant in a 9 cm pot.

Advice from our agronomist

Planting. Plant from spring to autumn in a sunny spot, 25–30 cm apart. Add sand or fine grit to heavy soil – stonecrop dislikes standing water.

Watering and feeding. Water only in the first weeks after planting and in very long dry spells. It hardly needs feeding; rich soil makes it floppy.

Care. Cut back the faded flower stems after flowering. If any shoot turns plain green, remove it to keep the variegation.

Gardener's tip. The variegation is best in full sun on lean soil. It is easy to propagate by division or stem cuttings in spring.
