About this product

Houseleek "Tarantula" (Sempervivum) is an easy succulent perennial whose rosettes are fringed with dense hairs along the leaf edges – hence the name. Buy Sempervivum "Tarantula" in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.

The cultivar was raised by Sue Thomas (UK) in 2000. The greenish rosettes with a reddish tint look soft and fluffy and in time form tight clumps of offsets.

Ideal for rock gardens, dry banks, bowls and containers, roofs and wall tops. A good choice for houseleek collectors and anyone looking for a low-maintenance perennial for a sunny spot.

Advice from our agronomist

Planting. Plant in full sun in light sandy or gritty soil. Add grit to heavy soil – houseleeks cannot stand waterlogging.

Watering and feeding. Water only at planting and during long droughts. No feeding needed – lean soil keeps rosettes compact and colourful.

Care. A rosette dies after flowering – remove it and the offsets will fill the gap. Offsets are easy to detach and replant.

Winter. Hardy without cover. Protect plants in containers from winter rain so the soil does not stay wet.
