Onion "Witte van Lissabon" ("White Lisbon", Allium cepa) is an early spring (salad) onion grown for its long mild leaves and white shank – this variety does not form bulbs. Buy "Witte van Lissabon" onion seeds (Organic Way, 1.5 g) in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
It is ready 50–60 days after sowing. The leaves are long and mild-flavoured, with a white, thickened base like a classic spring onion.
Grow it outdoors or in a greenhouse; it can also be sown in autumn for a very early spring crop. Organic Way seeds are organic. Use it in salads, sandwiches and Asian dishes.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Sow directly from early spring to June, 1–1.5 cm deep, rows 20 cm apart. For a continuous supply sow small batches every 2–3 weeks.
Watering and feeding. Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during germination. Feed moderately with compost; onions dislike fresh manure.
Care. Thin seedlings to about 10 cm in the row and keep the bed weed-free – young onions cannot compete. Harvest when stems are pencil-thick.
Gardener's tip. Sown in September, "Witte van Lissabon" overwinters and gives the first green onions in Estonia as early as May.
