Bulb planting fertiliser, 1 kg, Baltic Agro
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
A bulb’s flowering is decided in the previous season: tulips, daffodils and crocuses set next spring’s flower inside the bulb as early as late summer. A planting fertiliser is what starts that process — phosphorus and potassium for roots and bulb, not nitrogen for leaves.
That is exactly why an ordinary spring fertiliser does not suit bulbs: a nitrogen-rich feed gives lush leaves and a soft bulb that will not flower the next year.
The fertiliser goes into the bottom of the planting hole and is mixed with soil. Once in autumn — and nothing to do in spring.

Advice from our agronomist
Mix the fertiliser with soil in the bottom of the hole before you set the bulb — a bulb placed straight onto fertiliser can scorch.
Plant at three times the height of the bulb: set too shallow, it freezes and loses vigour.
Do not cut the leaves off after flowering until they yellow: that is how the bulb builds strength for next year.
Standing water kills bulbs — a raised bed or sandy soil beats rich clay.
Tulips want lifting and dividing every three or four years, or they thin out and grow small.
