Tietoa tuotteesta
European rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), also called mountain ash, is a beautiful deciduous tree native to Estonia that grows to 8–12 m tall and decorates the garden all year round.
In May and June the tree carries white flat-topped flower clusters, in August and September orange-red berries ripen and attract birds, and in autumn the feathery leaves turn yellow and red.
The plant is very hardy (USDA zone 2–3) and undemanding: it grows in sun or part shade in almost any well-drained soil. It suits specimen planting, boundaries and wildlife gardens.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or autumn in a sunny or partly shaded spot, leaving at least 4–5 m between trees. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and keep the root collar level with the soil.
Care. Weed around the trunk and mulch the soil. Stake young trees and protect the trunk from rodents; mature trees need little care.
Watering and feeding. In the first years water deeply once a week in dry weather; later the tree copes with drought on its own. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser or compost, but sparingly.
Winter and pruning. The tree is fully hardy and needs no winter cover. In spring before leaf break remove dead, crossing and frost-damaged branches; formative pruning is optional.
