Nasturtium Tropaeolum majus 'Tom Thumb' is a dwarf group of nasturtiums, here in seed from the Lithuanian producer Nojaus sėklos. Buy 'Tom Thumb' nasturtium seeds in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery – the packet holds 3 g.
Plants are compact, 25–30 cm tall, and neither climb nor sprawl. The flowers come in a mix of yellow, orange and red above round blue-green leaves. It blooms from June–July to September, and the flowers suit small posies.
'Tom Thumb' is ideal for edging, bedding, window boxes and pots. It likes sun or light shade and fertile loamy soil. Nasturtium flowers and young leaves are edible – their peppery, cress-like taste brightens up salads.

Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Soak the large seeds overnight before sowing. Sow 2–3 seeds per station 2–4 cm deep: indoors in April in individual pots (nasturtiums dislike transplanting), or outdoors in May once frosts are over.
Watering and feeding. Water moderately: in damp, rich soil nasturtiums make leaves instead of flowers. Do not feed with nitrogen; 1–2 feeds with a potassium–phosphorus fertiliser are enough for lots of bloom.
Care. Deadhead regularly to keep flowers coming until autumn. A jet of water or soapy spray deals with aphids, which love nasturtiums. Plants are killed by the first autumn frost.
Gardener's tip. Plant 'Tom Thumb' along beds of cabbage and cucumbers – the bright flowers draw in pollinators and the nasturtiums lure aphids away from the crops.
