Snowberry (Symphoricarpos doorenbosii) "Magic Berry" is a compact deciduous shrub prized above all for its bright pink berries, which stay on the branches into late autumn and winter.
The shrub grows 1–1.5 m tall and forms a rounded crown with arching branches. Small pink flowers open from June to September, so flowers and berries can be seen together.
The cultivar is very undemanding and hardy (USDA zone 3–7). It tolerates shade, polluted air and pruning, so it suits hedges, group plantings and urban gardens. The berries are mildly toxic to humans.

Agronomo patarimai
Planting. Plant in spring or autumn in sun or shade, spacing shrubs 80–100 cm apart. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and mix in compost.
Care. Weed and mulch the soil. The shrub can produce suckers, which are easily removed with a spade.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly in the first year; later it tolerates drought. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser or compost for more berries.
Winter and pruning. Hardy, no winter cover needed. In spring before leaf break cut out old and weak stems; in a hedge the shrub can also be trimmed in early summer.
