Advice from our agronomist
Planting Plant in spring or autumn in part shade or shade in fertile, well-drained soil; it dislikes standing water. For a hedge use 3–4 plants per running metre.
Watering Water regularly in the first years; established plants tolerate drought.
Pruning Tolerates clipping well; trim in summer and, if needed, in early spring.
Feeding and winter care Feed in spring with a conifer fertiliser. All parts of yew except the red aril are toxic – keep away from children and pets. Hardy; shelter young plants from winter sun and wind.
