Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Choose a bright spot because the variegation is stronger in sun. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball with the root collar at soil level; use moist, well-drained soil and add peat and sand if needed.
Care. Mulch with bark or peat so the soil does not dry out. Clipping is not needed; in spring just remove dead shoots and any plain green reverting branches.
Watering and feeding. Thuja dislikes drying out: in dry weather water thoroughly once a week, especially in the first two years. Apply conifer fertiliser in spring and a light feed in summer.
Winter care. The cultivar is hardy. Mulch young plants for the first winter and in spring shade the globe with light fleece to prevent needle scorch.
