Eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis, arborvitae) is an evergreen conifer with dense, flat, scale-like branches that keep the garden green all year. The exact cultivar is not specified; this text describes the species.
It is excellent for hedges, windbreaks, privacy screens and as a specimen. Young plants grow as a narrow cone, and a mature tree of the species can reach several metres.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant in spring or early autumn in sun to part shade; 60–80 cm apart for a hedge. Keep the crown level with the soil and water generously after planting.
Care. Mulch around the roots with bark or peat to keep the soil moist. Avoid prolonged drought and sites near salted roads.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly for the first two years and generously in dry weather. Apply conifer fertiliser in spring and stop feeding in late summer.
