Tietoa tuotteesta
Arborvitae "Smaragd" (Thuja occidentalis) is an evergreen conifer with a narrow conical habit that keeps its emerald-green colour through winter. This is a large specimen over 2.5 m tall, giving your garden a finished look straight away.
At maturity "Smaragd" reaches 4–6 m in height and only 0.8–1.5 m in width. The shoots are dense and upright and the tree keeps its shape without clipping. It is very hardy (USDA zone 3) and well suited to the Estonian climate.
Ideal for narrow hedges and privacy screens, as a specimen by the entrance, in groups and in large containers. With a large plant you get instant privacy or a focal point without years of waiting.

Agronomin neuvot
Planting. Plant large specimens in spring or early autumn. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, plant at the same depth as before and stake against wind. For a hedge, space plants about 50–70 cm apart.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly and deeply in the first year, especially in dry summers and before winter. Feed with a conifer fertiliser in spring; stop nitrogen from August.
Care and pruning. "Smaragd" keeps its shape naturally; trim a hedge lightly in early summer if needed. Mulch the root area to keep the soil moist.
Winter. A hardy cultivar. For newly planted trees, spring sun on frozen soil is the main risk — water well in autumn and shade the south side with fleece in the first spring. Shake heavy snow off the branches so the crown does not splay.
