About this product

Marmande tomato seeds (Solanum lycopersicum) – an early French beefsteak with large, ribbed, slightly flattened fruit of roughly 150–250 g. The juicy, dense flesh is perfect for slicing, salads and sauces.

Grow Marmande from seedlings outdoors or in a greenhouse. Give it a sunny spot, steady watering and support so the heavy fruit does not break the stems.

Seeds: 0,2 g.

Advice from our agronomist

Sowing Sow in the second half of March to early April 0.5–1 cm deep in light soil and keep at 22–25 °C; seedlings emerge in 5–8 days. Prick out into individual pots at the 1–2 true-leaf stage.

Planting out Plant 50–60-day-old seedlings into a greenhouse in mid May or outdoors in early June after the last frosts, 40–60 cm apart. Set them deeper, up to the first leaves.

Care Water evenly at the root without wetting the leaves. Support tall plants and pinch out side shoots; feed every two weeks with a potassium-rich tomato fertiliser and keep the soil mulched.

Harvest Harvest the fruits fully ripe, usually from late July until autumn. If frost threatens, pick the green fruits and let them ripen indoors.
