Planting. Plant from April to May or in September in part shade or shade, sheltered from wind. Soil: acid, humus-rich, moist and well-drained; avoid limy soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, keep the root collar level with the ground, water thoroughly and mulch with 5 cm of bark.
Care. No clipping is needed. Mulch with pine or spruce bark and keep the site cool; the cultivar does not tolerate a drying topsoil.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly, especially in dry spells, and never let the surface dry out. Feed in spring with an acid conifer fertiliser. Feed with a conifer fertiliser in spring and early summer; avoid nitrogen from August.
Winter care and pruning. Cover young plants with spruce boughs in the first winter and shelter them from winter sun and drying wind; container plants need extra frost protection.
