About this product
Purple mullein (Verbascum phoeniceum), mixed colours is a short-lived perennial that flowers in early summer on slender spikes. Buy purple mullein plants in Estonia from the ALLIKASILM nursery.
It forms a rosette of dark green leaves from which upright spikes rise. Mixed means a colour mix – flowers may be purple, pink, violet-red or white; the colour of an individual plant cannot be chosen.
Suitable for sunny borders, wildlife gardens and rock gardens; the flowers attract bees. It often self-seeds.

Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in full sun in light, well-drained soil, 30 cm apart. Avoid heavy, wet soil.
Watering and feeding. Water after planting and in long dry spells; established plants are drought tolerant. No heavy feeding needed.
Care. Cut back spikes after flowering for a possible second flush; spikes left to seed will self-sow.
Overwintering. Overwinters well in dry soil; may rot in wet ground. Self-sown seedlings renew the planting.
