Advice from our agronomist
Planting. Plant in full sun in well-drained, moderately fertile soil, 25–30 cm apart. Potted plants can be planted from spring to autumn.
Watering and feeding. Water after planting and in dry weather; established plants tolerate short dry spells. Give a light general feed in spring.
Care. Remove spent spikes to prolong flowering and encourage a second flush. Divide clumps every few years.
Overwintering. Hardy; cut back old leaves in spring. May suffer in waterlogged soil over winter.
