Lettuce "Lollo Rossa", 1 g

About this product
Lettuce “Lollo Rossa” (Lactuca sativa) is a leaf lettuce of Italian origin, known for its heavily frilled edges and wine-red leaf tips. It does not form a head: the leaves grow in a loose rosette, and that is exactly why you can pick it one leaf at a time all summer without pulling up the plant.
The flavour has a nutty note and a slight bitterness — that is its signature, not a flaw: it gives depth to a salad bowl where soft leaf lettuce alone would taste flat. The colour does not fade when cooked or wilt in the bowl: the red lace is why restaurants use “Lollo Rossa”.
The pack contains 1 g.

Advice from our agronomist
Pick the outer leaves. Take the outer leaves of the rosette each time and leave the growing point — the plant regrows and lasts for weeks.
Give it light for the colour. The red tone develops in sunlight: in shade Lollo Rossa stays dull green and loses its main charm.
Keep the soil moist. Drought sharpens the bitterness and coarsens the leaf; even moisture keeps it tender.
