About this product

Lettuce «Appia» (Lactuca sativa) — an early, fast-growing butterhead valued for its excellent flavour and disease resistance. The head is large and firm, the leaves slightly wavy and tender.

«Appia» is grown outdoors for summer and autumn crops: sow direct or plant out when seedlings have 5-6 true leaves. It does best in neutral (pH 6-6,8), fertile, free-draining soil.

Pack of 1 g. Made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist

Sow in succession. Lettuce matures all at once: sow a short row every 2-3 weeks for fresh heads all summer.

Leave room for the head. Thin to 25-30 cm — in a crowded row no head forms and the leaves start to rot.

Water evenly, in the morning. Drought makes the leaf bitter and sends lettuce to seed; evening watering over the leaves invites rot.
