Lettuce "Lollo Rossa", 1 g, Žalia stotelė

About this product
Lettuce «Lollo Rossa» (Lactuca sativa) — an Italian loose-leaf lettuce, recognised by its strongly frilled edge and wine-red leaf tips. It forms no head: the leaves grow as an open rosette, which is why you can pick it leaf by leaf all summer without pulling the plant.
The flavour has a nutty note and a light bitterness — a characteristic, not a fault: it gives a salad bowl the depth that soft leaf alone lacks. The colour neither fades nor wilts away in the bowl: that red frill is why Lollo Rossa is a restaurant staple.
Pack of 1 g. Made by Žalia stotelė.

Advice from our agronomist
Pick the outer leaves. Take the outer leaves of the rosette each time and leave the growing point — the plant regrows and lasts for weeks.
Give it light for the colour. The red tone develops in sunlight: in shade Lollo Rossa stays dull green and loses its main charm.
Keep the soil moist. Drought sharpens the bitterness and coarsens the leaf; even moisture keeps it tender.
