Leaf lettuce mix, 0.4 g, Baltic Agro
Seller: ALLIKASILM
About this product
Leaf lettuce mix (Lactuca sativa) — a mix of lettuces grown not for hearts but picked leaf by leaf. One sowing feeds you for weeks: take the outer leaves and the centre keeps growing and making more.
Different colours and leaf shapes in one packet mean the salad bowl looks like it came from a market without buying five separate packets: the red-leaved kinds give colour, the green ones a mild taste.
Leaf lettuce is quick — the first leaves are ready in three to four weeks. Suits beds, greenhouses and balcony boxes. The pack holds 0.4 g, roughly 300–400 seeds. Producer Baltic Agro, Estonia.

Advice from our agronomist
Sow in batches. Sow a small batch every two or three weeks — that way you have fresh leaves all summer instead of everything at once and then nothing.
Moisture decides the flavour. Lettuce wants steady moisture: dryness makes the leaves bitter and sends the plant to seed. In dry weather water daily, preferably in the morning.
Part shade in summer. In scorching sun lettuce bolts fast. Put July and August sowings in the shade of taller plants or use shade netting.
Thin out. Do not sow thickly: crowded plants make small leaves that rot from below. Space them 10–15 cm apart.
Pick in the morning. Take the outer leaves while they are cool and crisp; a leaf cut at midday wilts within the hour.
