'White Juterbog' (German 'Weisse aus Jüterbog') is an old, well-regarded white currant, here grown as a standard – a compact little tree that decorates the garden and crops at a comfortable picking height. The berries are cream-white and sweet-sharp, rich in pectin, on long dense strigs. They ripen evenly in mid-July; the variety is very productive, starts bearing early and is self-fertile.
The head is round and neat; height depends on the stem (usually about 1–1.5 m). Ideal for small gardens, beside a terrace or in a large container. The variety is disease-resistant.

Agronoma ieteikumi
Planting. Plant in spring or autumn in a sunny spot sheltered from wind. Drive a strong stake into the hole at planting and tie the stem to it in several places – standards are sensitive to wind. Mix compost into the soil.
Watering and feeding. Water regularly in dry spells and while the berries ripen. In spring give compost or a berry fertiliser; from July use only potassium and phosphorus. Mulch the root zone.
Care. Prune after harvest or in early spring: remove old, dead and crowding branches and shorten over-long shoots to keep the head round. Rub off any shoots appearing on the stem or from the roots straight away.
Gardener's tip. Cover the head of a young standard with fleece in its first winters, and net against birds as the berries ripen – birds notice white berries less, but a net saves the whole crop.
